John Leonzo Basketball
John Leonzo is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for Wright State women's basketball and was promoted to associate head coach in 2022. He coordinates the team's recruiting efforts and oversees all aspects of Wright State’s offensive attack.
Under his leadership, Wright State became one of the nation’s top three-point shooting teams, ranking second in made threes per game (10.1) and setting a school record with 323 total threes in the 2022-23 season.
Before Wright State, Leonzo spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Cedarville University, contributing to recruiting, player development, and scouting. While at Cedarville, he developed and coached an offense that finished top five nationally in Division II for four straight seasons. In the 2020-21 season, he was recognized as a WBCA Thirty Under 30 Honoree, an award celebrating young coaches for their impact on the game, community service, mentorship, and professionalism.
He has also worked in player development at Spooky Nook Sports, coached AAU teams, and assisted at camps for the University of Virginia and the Philadelphia 76ers. A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Leonzo is a Cedarville graduate and the founder of John Leonzo Basketball, where he has trained athletes from high school to the professional level.
